I Miss The Future

Upon my nightstand where a picture once placed,

Lit up the idea of a future that couldn’t be erased.

Written in the stars dancing with the moon,

Was the thought of a future with you.

Seen in my dreams during a blissful sleep,

Were all the unspoken memories I would ever need.

Still so present and brightly lit,

Burns that fire that gave your love a place within,

My deepest desire to call home,

A place that my future and yours are sown.

And upon this alter I can confess a changed man,

I miss the future, we never had.
