All That Glitters

How’s that old adage go?

All that glitters is gold?

What we keep in our hearts stays true,

So, when I finally speak my truth, I’ll keep you.

Smile at me one more time,

It’s been a while and I can’t help but try,

To remind you of a better life,

But, I’m sure you’re dating a real nice guy,

I love you more than they know,

I see us in a brand-new light,

I see the love we share and can’t help but fight,

The fate we’ve suffered at these hands of mine.

But remember when you’re chasing that starlit sky,

And searching for that, “once in a lifetime”

That all things that glitter aren’t gold,

And things lost forever, never get old.
